Chris Port

Programme Director

Chris has over 10 years experience in the recruitment and search & selection market sectors. He began his professional career working in financial services, working for a West Bromwich Building Society where he quickly progressed into a sales role. He was then headhunted by Nationwide Building Society and taken on as a Financial Planning Manager. He became fully FPC qualified and in his first year in the role, finished number 1 ranked consultant in the country out of more than 400 fellow sales consultants. He also achieved the highest sales figures in the company’s history and gained promotion to a Sales Management position. Over a four year period, the role involved interviewing over 2000 people. Part of the role was also the training of new recruits, training of branch and customer service staff and delivering workshops and presentations at the company seminars.

Following this, Chris became one of the founders and Directors of a National Executive Recruitment Consultancy, where, alongside the other Directors, he established a new brand in the sector, working with many corporate clients such as the Tyco Group, Parker Hannifin, Cromwell Tools, Canon, Vileda, Sony, Bose, Wyko, Infast, Link 51, TNT, Vax, Jeyes, ITW and many more, including building national sales teams for major blue chip companies such as The Caudwell Group. Chris was also the national account partner to the UK’s leading hair and beauty supplier, where as the retained recruiter he successfully built a new team of 40 strong marketing managers, store managers, national field sales management and regional management.

Chris has designed and delivered many career based training courses including CV writing, internet career resourcing, client needs analysis, sales processes and contract negotiations. Highly regarded in the industry for his efficient, accurate and professional approach, he has developed excellent relationships with HR Managers, Sales Directors and Managing Directors, as well as many candidates whom he has helped in their career progression. He has personally interviewed over 2000 applicants.

Chris is now heavily involved in Sprint Outplacement Services, where his expertise of one to one career coaching and remote support is fully utilised. He has successfully coached a wide diversity of staff facing redundancy, taking them from the initial emotional side of dealing with redundancy, through building a professional CV, modern job search methodology, interview technique coaching, job offer assessment to salary negotiations. He has also delivered group workshops covering all aspects of career support.
